July in the Library

Hello again,

The a/c is going full blast in Ablah Library. The new carpet is also in. Things are much quieter than they were with the tile. The difference is noticeable. It's funny what librarians notice. The carpet looks pretty nice and the air conditioning compares favorably with a cool day on Lake Winnipeg so feel free to stop on by.

Another cool web site:

You Tube is a service that allows anyone to publish almost any kind of video on the web. It has in effect created an online library of homemade videos as well as clips from published movies, TV, etc. Copyright issues aside, this is an interesting way to kill some time. Recently Connie Chung's farewell on cable was published on You Tube. It's pretty bad so I won't link to it. You'll just have to Google it yourself! What's interesting about it is that many estimate that more people watched Connie Chung's farewell on You Tube and the web than watched her show. It's a neat emerging site and I figured I would pass it along. Here's a video of traffic in India that over two million people have viewed. Many of these things are completely amateur and it's a way for people to get their movie out on the web fairly easily.
