Back from ALA-Annual Las Vegas

Greetings,
Last week, I presented at the American Library Association's Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I wanted to say thank you to Ava Iuliano Brillat, among others at RUSA.  The 20th Annual Reference Research Forum was an excellent place to present "College Student Tech Use: A Recent Survey of Trends."  Las Vegas weather in late June/early July... that's another story.  Finally, I also wanted to thank SUNYLA (State University of New York Librarians Association) for grant funding as well as my colleagues at SUNY-College at Old Westbury for all their efforts as well.  Among others, Jason Kaloudis was a great help with gathering surveys and providing input for the survey design.  Speaking of which, surveying 187 college students and tabulating the data takes a while.  I also wanted to thank Old Westbury students who voluntarily participated in the survey.  Your feedback and input really makes a difference.

Anyway, I found it interesting to see all the different components that go into college student life.  While valuable, it's so much more than smartphones, tablets, and computers.  Most students who were surveyed work while in school and there are many different aspects to consider.  At any rate, it's been a busy summer at SUNY-Old Westbury.
