Wikipedia and Research

There's a great article in the Chronicle on Wikipedia:
http://chronicle.com/article/The-Undue-Weight-of-Truth-on/130704/

Here we have a researcher who has strong ideas on the Haymarket Riot.  He spends years researching the event and his books get published by well-regarded academic publishers.  Sometimes the hardest part is getting Wikipedia to acknowledge new research in an area.  This is a good example of such an event.  Think about that the next time you read a Wikipedia article.  Until next time, catch me in the library.

Conference Board Business & Economic Portfolio

Greetings,
At Old Westbury Library, we recently upgraded our Conference Board Business & Economic Portfolio.  For more information, check out their web site:
http://www.conference-board.org/regions/educational/index.cfm?id=2244

To take a look at the database itself, here's a link:

Whether it's data for key economic indicators or something more specific such as the Consumer Confidence Index, these things are worth examining.  Often, it can be hard to find good macro-level economic data.  The Conference Board offers data and it's available to anyone in the Old Westbury community.  We pay for these resources so it's good to hear if this resource is useful.  Feel free to drop me an email (at FriehsC at oldwestbury.edu) and let me know what you think.  Until next time, catch me in the library.
