Online Handbook Trial and NELA Conference

Greetings,
I just got back from Portland, Maine for the New England Library Association Annual Conference.  There were several really interesting presentations including one on "The Mystique of 'Sensible Shoes' and Other Image Myths of the Modern Librarian".  For more information, check out this link:

Finally, we have an online handbook trial through APA on-campus at Old Westbury until November 21, 2013.  This trial features the "Handbook of Counseling Psychology" as well as the "Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology".  More information is available here:

Database Trials: LGBT Thought and Culture / North American Immigrant Letters, Diaries and Oral Histories

At Old Westbury Library, we currently have two database trials underway.  North American Immigrant Letters features letters, diaries, and oral histories.  It's a fairly unique resource.  If you're looking for narratives by immigrants from Ireland, Mexico, and many other countries, check it out:
