Car Rentals

Greetings,
The NY Times ran an interesting article about renting a car and dealing with a rental car company:

Admittedly, I'm not an attorney so this isn't my area of expertise.  I'm a librarian so if you have specific questions, check with your attorney or financial advice professional.  That being said, red tape can evidence itself in a variety of different ways.  Whether you're travelling for a job interview or going on vacation, renting a car can be quite an experience for a recent college graduate.  Reading up about the car rental experience can be helpful.  For more tips, check out this USA Today article:

Car Leasing

According to the Wall Street Journal, car leasing recently hit a record:

There are a number of reasons that car leasing appeals to consumers.  It also creates opportunities to purchase used cars once vehicles go off-lease.  What's interesting about this is that it shows that consumers are looking at vehicles differently.  Weighing the options between purchasing and leasing a car is a big decision.  That said, there are other options such as purchasing a used car which may make sense for some consumers.  It depends on a number of factors.  Old Westbury Library has a financial literacy Libguide which offers some library resources when it comes to making financial decisions:

Until next time, catch me in the library.
