Russell Simmons on Raising the Minimum Wage

Russell Simmons, co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, recently spoke publicly on raising the minimum wage:

With his background in hip hop and business experience, Mr. Simmons has some ideas about the economy.  Equally neat, Old Westbury Library recently added the PBS Video Collection to our library holdings.  You may ask yourself, what do Russell Simmons and PBS have in common?  Well, actually quite a bit.  Mr. Simmons worked with PBS to create "Your Money, Your Life".  In his own words, "Financial literacy is not taught in schools and it's not necessarily handed down from generation to generation.  So we've got to supplement for that."  Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself.  If you're interested in the video, here's a link: http://predator.oldwestbury.edu:2048/login?url=http://search.alexanderstreet.com/view/work/2339593

To get access to the PBS video off-campus, you'll need to log-in with your Old Westbury username and password.  Aside from the PBS video and Russell Simmons being all sorts of awesome, SUNY offers supplements for financial literacy.  SUNY Smart Track is another valuable resource:

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer!
