Economics Book - Hot Off the Press!

Greetings,
I wanted to mention an ebook that we have at Old Westbury Library.  It's Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Thomas Piketty.  There was an interesting article in the NY Times on the book:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/20/business/international/taking-on-adam-smith-and-karl-marx.html

Even Paul Krugman noted the book “will be the most important economics book of the year — and maybe of the decade.”  Wow, that's a pretty big deal!  If you'd like to learn more about Piketty's ideas, here's a link to our ebook access:

Until next time, catch me in the library.

Money Smart Week

Greetings,
It's Money Smart Week!  The American Library Association has put together an entire web site devoted to financial literacy as well as set aside a week to promote library events:

Personally, I'm excited about anything that relates financial literacy.  When the dust settles with our library renovation, I think it would be a really neat sort of program to offer in a brand new classroom.  In the meantime, there are some really neat resources available.  Not sure where to start when it comes to creating a budget?  Mint.com is an excellent resource that can study your purchasing and create a budget.  Of course, many other resources exist.  YouCanDealWithIt.com offers tips for people fresh out of college and facing student loan debt.  Until next time, catch me in the library.
