Job Hunting Workshops

Greetings,
It's been quite a week.  I recently returned from the Charleston Conference.  Another librarian colleague, Cindy Craig and I presented down in Charleston, South Carolina.  It's quite a conference.  Honestly, I've never seen more vendors per capita at a library conference.  It was a great event and I felt privileged to present "Turn That Frown Upside Down: Strategies for Improving Library Employee Morale".  As the title suggests, our presentation looked for better ways to improve employee morale as well as some of the reasons why library employees get in a funk.  The presentation itself was a lot of fun and conference attendees had a great time.

Okay, now back to Old Westbury!  We have some fantastic workshops this month.  They focus on strategies for job hunting success.  Margaret King (SUNY-Old Westbury Career Services) and I are presenting these workshops.  They are designed specifically for students (but are open to everyone) and provide a ton of useful information for conducting successful job searches.  Both Margaret King and I hold library science degrees so we know a bit about database and web searches.  The focus of today's presentation is on web-based job search tools.  If you can't make it, tomorrow (November 9, common hour) we have another talk on using Old Westbury Library databases to locate employment.  Both presentations start at 12 pm and end at 12:50 pm.  These presentations will take place in Old Westbury Library in room L121.  We look forward to seeing you.  Until next time, catch me in the library.
