Prendismo Trial

Greetings,
There's a SUNY-wide trial of Prendismo in progress until June 30, 2012.  Prendismo is a database full of business clips and short videos.  They relate to a variety of business topics and include plenty of interesting stories and anecdotes.  If you're on SUNY's Old Westbury campus, our IP addresses are set so you can view these videos.  For more information, check out their web site:

If you like what you see (or don't) or have any comments on the database, please drop me an email.  Until next time, catch me in the library.

Foxconn, Apple and More

Apple has been in the news lately with their factories in China.  The NY Times reported on the company's labor issues.  As I look at this, it's troubling for Apple.  The other day I was listening to a story on NPR on the same issue.  Apparently, Apple outsources its manufacturing to Foxconn in China.  Then things start to get interesting.  There have been reports of workers threatening mass suicide and more.  As I work towards a second master's degree in human resources management, I can't help but notice what an HR nightmare these factories have on their hands.  Even the threat of employees killing themselves in large numbers is something awful.  It will be interesting to see where this story goes.  Until next time, catch me in the library.
