Library Renovation and Some Money Saving Tips

Wow, the last week or two have been pretty wild here at Old Westbury Library.  We're undergoing a large renovation.  In time, these upgrades should make for a better library.  Today, it's been a little noisy!

When it comes to money, I often find personal finance tips on Yahoo! Finance.  Often, these tips can be helpful.  Other times, they may not be 100 percent applicable to living in Long Island.  Either way, it's good to stay informed.  For instance, here are some ways to save money on apartment rentals:

In a place where broker's fees are not unheard of, some of the tips may or may not work.  Nonetheless, if you're a novice when it comes to renting, it never hurts to read a little bit before you sign a lease.

Then there's advice on how to attend college for "free":

Again, it may or may not work for you and it never hurts to keep an eye open.  Speaking of which, this is probably one of the better books on paying for college:

"Free college" makes headlines but realistically having a sensible plan to pay for education without student loans is also worth investigating.  Until next time, catch me in the library.
